Cards Are Dealt

All 52 cards are distributed equally among the four players — 13 cards each. Take a moment to assess your hand before bidding.

Place Your Bid

Each player declares how many tricks (out of 13) they expect to win this round. You must bid at least 1. Your bid is your target — exceed it and you score big; fall short and you lose points.

Play Your Cards

The player to the dealer's right leads the first trick. You must follow suit if you can. If you can't follow suit, you may play any card — including a spade (trump). The highest card of the led suit wins, unless a spade is played.

Spades Trump Everything

Spades are the permanent trump suit. Any spade beats any non-spade card, regardless of rank. Among spades, higher rank wins. The Ace of Spades is the most powerful card in the game.

Score Your Round

If you win exactly your bid or more, you score points equal to your bid plus 0.1 for each extra trick. If you win fewer tricks than you bid, you lose points equal to your bid. After 5 rounds, the player with the highest score wins.
